2nd XV triumph 53-3 at Livingston. Match report by Choo Lawrie.

Leith's 2XV were In league action This past Weekend against Livingston 2XV after the league opener against Haddington was postponed.

Leith kicked off and the game was end to end for the first 10 minutes as both teams pressed hard and defended well. The scoring was opened by Keith Aitchison crossing after a few phases in the opponents 22. The conversion missed by George Nixon , who made amends with a penalty just a few minutes later right in front of the posts.

Livingston started to fight back from the restart as they put pressure on Leith in their half and were rewarded with a penalty for their efforts which was converted making the score 8 - 3. The fight was short lived though as Steven Eadie crossed the line after breaking through a tackle in the centre of midfield and touching down underneath the posts. George Nixon with the conversion. As the game moved on, Steven Eadie raced in again for his second with Andy Barr touching down for a 4th in quick succession. By half time Leith led by 4 tries to none.

The second half kicked off and with Livingston down to 14 men due to an injury picked up by the tighthead prop, the scrums went uncontested. Livingston used this to gather more posession and put the pressure on Leith in their half. Brushing off tackles and making their way into the 22. All this pressure would've resulted in a try if it wasn't for John Derrin making the tackle and forcing the knock on to allow Leith the scrum and escaping from their 5.

Leith gathered their heads and ran the ball back into the opposition half. With a line out on the 5m Leith secured the ball and went through the phases before putting the ball through the hands and Craig Davitt finding the gap and crossing over. Paul Haggon was next to cross after the restart as he took advantage of a couple of weak tackles and running in to touch down under the posts.

With the game coming to an end, Steven Eadie was able to cross twice more for Leith with the latter try being the final play of the game.

Final score 53 - 3.
