8-3 to Leith

In very windy conditions Leith struggled to an 8-3 win.

Playing against the wind in the first half, Leith dominated the 1st half. Gareth opened the scoring with a well taken penalty into the stiff breeze and Craig Smith had a good break with a well disguised dummy unfortunately he did the same again a couple of times when the opposition were waiting for it and took a thigh knock which saw the introduction of Richard Organ.

Half time 3-0

Both teams were doing a fair bit of lying on the ball and the ref was doing nothing about it which resulted in a bit of traditional footwork from both outfits with predictable bellows of outrage from the touchline. I say bring it back. If you're in the way you should take a shoeing. Andy Mac eventually got a card when the ref remembered this rule.

The second half was looking a bit ominous at this stage as Leith seemed to think the hard work had been done in the first half. Inverleith came into it at this point and had a couple of scoring chances held up, one of which could have been given. They did score a penalty to equalise though.

The injuries were coming thick and fast and Patrick came off, as did Gareth with a burst noggin (fortunately his girlfriend had arrived to patch him up). Jaffa and Iain also came off (tactical?) to be replaced by the burly coach (oh the shame of it!)

The guys had woken up and after a period of sustained pressure Dee went in on the right side of the Lochend Road end. Conversion was unsuccessful.

We huffed and puffed thereafter but IL couldn't threaten. The best they managed were a few kicks downfield which Don and Rory returned well.

Game over.

Well done to Craig Winton who toughed it out with a shoulder injury in the front row.

Man of the match was Shane although his effort to snk the pint was a weak effort which was a two gulper. Luckily he was up against a fairly weak opponenet who had to lob his pint over the bonce.

Pictures will follow when camera cable is located.
