Leith 43 - 17 Corstorphine

This was Leith's first home game of 2020, and first since November 30 - and it was worth the wait. Leith were determined to bounce back from the previous week's disappointing result at Trinity and from an early line out they set up a maul and drove forward. Dave Sommerville then released the backs and some quick passing put Ross Marwick in for the first try in the first minute, the winger galloping in from 25 metres. 5-0

Leith pushed again from the kick off but poor ball retention allowed Corstorphine the turn over, and their fullback cleared their lines toward his opposite man Andrew Baxter who counter attacked quickly, breaking upfield and passing to Paul Haggon who committed the winger to release Bowman who ran in to touch down under the posts. Conversion good Dannfald. 12-0.

Leith were down to 14 men when Forsyth was yellow card for catching the ball coming back from an offside position. This gave Corstorphine the opportunity to score which they did 12-7. Corstorphine continued to frustrate Leith at the contact area. Not allowing them clean quick ball. Leith did cross the try line again after good work from the forwards allowing Marwick in for his second try. 17-7 Corstorphine scored a converted try and a penalty before half time. 17-17

Leith wanted to speed up the game, and were rewarded a scrum 8 meters out from the Corstorphine try line, from a set piece move Josh Campey was tackled short. A quick pick and go pulled in the Corstorphine defence allowing a switch pass from Sommerville to Campey to crash over the try line. 22-17.

Leith's forwards continued to dominate and were given a scrum. Another set move off the training pitch allowed Baxter to make good ground and was tackled but Bowman was on hand to recycle the ball releasing Marwick in for his third try of the day. Con good Dannfald. 29-17.

The dominance of Leith’s forwards gave an excellent platform for the backs to attack. From a clearance kick fielded by Bowman, he broke down the wing, offloading out of the tackle to Campey, and following two forward drives, Dannfald put in an inch perfect cross field kick over the head of Cougars' left winger for Marwick to collect on the bounce and score his 4th try under the posts. Con good Dannfald. 36-17.

Late in the game, and following several thrwarted thrusts near the tryline, Dannfald got in for the try his play deserved, diving in for the game's last try. Con good for a final score of 43-17.
