A couple of late withdrawals gave coach Eric a headache in reorganising the team last minute.
Ross Kilgour went into centre and Russell Smith went to scrum half with craig smith also in off the bench.
Leith played against the strong wind first half s and defended superbly, with the only blemish being the loss of a try on virtually the half time whistle.
Unfortunately a kick through resulted in an unconverted try to Broughton at the start of the second half, which is about the last time Broughton were in our half.
A this point the penalty count seemed to swing in our favour due to the huge amount of pressure Leith were exerting and indeed we were camped on their line for most of the second half. The wind meant that penalty kicks were out of the question.
Eventually leith were able to force over for a try, Doug Watters gathering re-gathering his own grubber kick to set up Doddie McHardy for the score, but despite the constant pressure, were unable to get another.
Verdict - hugley dissapointing as this was a game that was very winnable, but still a very committed positive performance from the guys with a lot to build on. We'll look forward to the rematch at Academy park.
