Leith score a hat trick

Leith cruised past Liberton in a fairly one sided encounter to achieve their third win in a row.

Three early tries by Gareth followed by two more within 15 minutes (1 of them from Ryan Burgess, the other Ross Kilgour) meant that the bonus point win was secured before the boys had gotten a sweat up (and Andy ‘eggshell’ Mac had departed the field with a popped hammy).

The match was largely one way traffic, but Liberton’s roly poly kicker was fairly dangerous, so the guys did well to limit his penalty chances.

Main talking point towards the end of the first half was the controversial disallowing of Doddie’s try, but in the scheme of things it didn’t have an effect.

At half time there were quite a few changes to ensure everyone got some game time. This however had no effect on the flow of the game with a succession of tries being scored. The only disappointment being Liberton scored due to an error on our part.

Try of the game was a sweeping move finished by Chris Aitchison.

Worst try of the game was Aitchy seniors belly flop over the line from a range of about 1 inch. Very poor. On the back of this Aitchy was finally awarded man of the match. On the up side however he was driving and wasn’t able to savour his victory pint. Chris substituted for him and continued the Leith tradition (this season) of losing the beer race every time.
