Summary
1st half – Great start with two tries, foot off the gas, two penalties lost. Last twenty of the 1st half was dire, with the ineffectual Ferry team unable to take advantage of the penalty count in their favour.
If the fat boy from last week had been kicking, we’d have gone in behind.
A great hit from captain John Shaft - damn right. Was worthy of note however.
Half time bollocking from coach tam had the necessary effect:
A more disciplined 2nd half (apart from penalties being given for pushing too hard in the scrum!)
Saw regular scores with Gerard scoring a couple and Craig Winton finishing off a special move.
A few things to work on:
Discipline – not mouthing off, but technical offences
White line fever
Both the above were due to the opposition not putting up much off a fight and everyone trying to get a try.
A lot more positives though
Leading Leither
Ryan Burgess ran the ball well out of defence, Pat (with new found grunt) was aggressive, Sam had a few good darts, but Winton was everywhere in the loose and followed up well to get a good score.
Well done Craig!
PS the Thugby boot managed to stay on the park today following a lengthy ban for assault and robbery. The SRU are watching though! No coincedence we were assigned a grade 1 official in the circumstances. What was bizarre however was that this is the first referee I’ve ever met who was looking forward to Aitchy playing – stranger than fiction.
Bevvy Bulletin
Just the one pint of Stella. Where were the Ferry guys afterwards? Rugby = socialising
Food review
Sandwiches and fat chips. The young team disgraced themselves by hovering the majority – very poor.
